Florida "teacher quality" bills on fast track
Need more evidence that Florida lawmakers will move quickly on bills aiming to change the way school teachers are evaluated, paid, contracted, hired and fired?
How about this? The Senate version of the bill, which has passed three committees, already has been placed on the special order calendar for March 9 — one day after the legislative session convenes.
Anyone looking to have input on the legislation might look to the House, where the bill finally has been given a number (HB 7019) and still has more committee stops. With the two versions nearly identical, big changes seem unlikely. But who knows?
Teachers plan to protest on March 4 all around the state. Stay tuned.
