Florida's strong PIRLS results a stepping stone to more, Stewart says
With Florida's strong results on international reading exams, many eyes turned to the state to learn how our students had jumped to the top.
Interim education commissioner Pam Stewart described the efforts on CNN. See the clip above.
Stewart, who did not apply for the permanent commissioner job, told the Gradebook later that she intends to return to her job as K-12 chancellor overseeing the efforts leading to strong outcomes. She looked forward to working with incoming commissioner Tony Bennett in combining the best ideas of Florida and Indiana to further improve Florida education.
"I am anxious to see how we can look at both and move forward," Stewart said. "It's what is next. We are never content to be where we are."
