Flowers hosts campaign kickoff tonight
Pinellas County school board candidate Rene Flowers is hosting a campaign kickoff event this evening at 5:30 p.m, at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African-American Museum, 2420 9th Ave. S, in St. Petersburg.
Flowers has filed to run for the District 7 seat formerly held by Lew Williams. Williams died in December. Flowers actually managed Williams' successful campaign for the seat in 2010.
Glen Gilzean, who was appointed to fill Williams' spot last month, said Wednesday he has not yet decided whether he will run for the position.
