Foundation member's e-mail shows concern for Pinellas student achievement

If you read today's story on the subject, you know that Pinellas County has a long way to go in order to achieve "decentralization" on the magnitude that some at the Pinellas Education Foundation would like. Here's a copy of the e-mail the foundation's Bob McIntyre sent to several overseeing the effort to try to empower principals with more decision-making authority. Central to his concern is that the district is flagging and needs a commitment by school district leaders to turn it around: "We are an average school district," he writes, "that at best is average when compared nationally -- and nationally, our system has slipped dramatically and no longer is a world leader when it comes to K-12 education."
