FSU film student takes top honors
A Florida State University film school student has won top honors in the annual Student Academy Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif. Graduate student Patrick Alexander's dark thriller "Rundown" took first prize in the narrative category. The 15-minute film is about a television news reporter who must cover the story of the hit-and-run crime she committed while driving to her debut as an anchorwoman.
Patrick, 29, of Cincinatti, got the idea in 2005 while visiting his brother, who worked for "ABC News Nightline." This is the fourth time in three years that an FSU film school graduate student won in the prestigious national competition, but Patrick's win marks the first gold medal.
