FSU ranks No. 44 in research doctorates
FSU ranks No. 44 among doctorate-granting institutions in the number of research doctorates produced in 2008, according to a new report from the National Science Foundation. Florida State tied with the University of California at Santa Barbara and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (“Virginia Tech”) for the 44th spot. The three universities each granted 344 doctoral degrees in 2008.
FSU has enjoyed a top 50 ranking since 2002.
“By graduating more and more students with research doctorates, we are enhancing our impact on these fields, which ultimately serves to enhance our reputation,” said Nancy Marcus, dean of the Graduate School. “The data also demonstrate our strength in the humanities, education, communication and social sciences, including psychology.”
