Griffin, White lead fundraising in Hillsborough School Board races

TAMPA -- Incumbent April Griffin has established a daunting lead in fundraising over challenger Sally Harris in the countywide District 6 race for a seat on the Hillsborough County School Board, while newcomer Stacy White maintains his lead over former principal Richard Bartels in the District 4 contest in the eastern county.

Below are the total contributions, as of the latest reporting period, according to the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections office.

April Griffin: $52,237

Sally Harris: $8,005

Stacy White: $16,691

Richard Bartels: $6,345

At a glance, Griffin and to a lesser extent Bartels appear to have drawn support from unions, and White has done well by political action committees associated with Realtors and agriculture. Bartels leads the field in anonymous donations, with more than a dozen. And Harris leads in loans to herself; she has donated nearly $11,000 to her own campaign, either personally or via her business, the Circle C Ranch Academy preschool in Tampa. (By contrast, Griffin has lent her campaign just $10, and neither White nor Bartels have lent themselves anything.)

As always, there is no limit on comments; those can be contributed below.
