Hernando administrators refuse raise

January

BROOKSVILLE -- Here's something you don't see every day. At least 16 principals and senior officials in Hernando County are vowing to refuse a pay raise.

Four out of five board members said Tuesday they want to give administrators the 1.8. percent boost. They previously approved a 2.4 percent raise for teachers and a 5.5 percent raise for superintendent Wayne Alexander.

But 16 administrators have filed a petition saying they won't take the money, now that layoffs for teachers and staff are a real possibility for next fall.
