Hillsborough School Board bids Faliero adieu

10

November

TAMPA -- The Hillsborough County School Board bid farewell last night to one of its own, adopting a resolution in honor of member Jennifer Faliero, who lost her bid for a third term in the August primary election. Her successor, pharmacist Stacy White, will be seated on the board next week.

The resolution -- adopted in a special session convened at the conclusion of a non-voting "recognition meeting" -- praised Faliero's expertise and said she "always put children first and worked unselfishly on their behalf."

At the board's final regular meeting two weeks ago, Faliero took aim at the news media, which she said unfairly referred to her lower-than-average attendance record on the board during the campaign. She repeated her assertion, previously noted by the St. Petersburg Times, that she had missed meetings due to family health problems. (The Times also wrote about errors she made in filing her financial disclosure forms during the campaign.)

"You all have attacked my integrity professionally and personally," Faliero said at that meeting, addressing reporters. "And I don’t take that lightly."

Below is the full text of Tuesday's resolution:
