For Hillsborough teachers' union, election begins
TAMPA -- Who says it's too early to think about election campaigns?
Not the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers' Association, which today announced it would endorse former principal Richard Bartels over two-term incumbent Jennifer Faliero for the District 4 seat representing the eastern side of the county.
The union backed incumbents Candy Olson and April Griffin in their competitive races in Districts 2 and 6 respectively for the Aug. 24 primary and Nov. 4 general election. And we hear it won't be long before the Florida Education Association decides on endorsements for statewide races.
All of which raises an interesting question. School board races are supposed to be nonpartisan. Still, is this the year Florida will see tea party candidates to run the schools?
