How many still in line at fundamentals?

UPDATE: This post has been updated to include the total numbers from Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary, which were left out of the spread sheet. The grade-by-grade numbers for that school are included in the comments below.

Sunday's St. Petersburg Times story about Pinellas school board candidates and fundamental schools noted that many families ended up on waiting lists this year, but we didn't have the numbers to show you how many are still there. We still don't - but we have the next best thing.

This spread sheet from the district shows, as of July 29, how many families are still in line for each grade at each fundamental school. Keep in mind that many families are on more than one wait list. That 4,370 total is the number of applications in limbo, NOT the number of families in limbo.

Families put in a total of 8,450 applications this year.

This post from February notes how many applied for the kindergarten and sixth-grade slots. It's not all the data we'd like to see, but it at least gives you some idea how much the lists have been whittled.
