Huff: Janssen "not using her communication skills"
Pinellas school board candidate Fonda Huff said she can't say whether Superintendent Julie Janssen has the skills to lead the district through a tumultuous period. But at times Janssen doesn't appear to be using her communication skills, Huff wrote in a questionairre for the St. Petersburg Times editorial board.
"Many times the community, parents, teachers, or administrators are not asked for input on decisions that are being brought to the board," Huff wrote. "For example, none of the parents were asked how it would impact them and their children by moving the start times of the elementary schools."
Huff said she would audit the district administration, which she described as having "way too many supervisors of supervisors." She also said it's clear from what happened at Hopkins Middle that the district didn't put enough support in place to handle the transition to neighborhood schools.
The questionairre, submitted to all nine school board candidates in Pinellas, asks questions on more than a dozen subjects. We'll post the others in the near future.
Huff is running against Terry Krassner for the at-large District 2 seat.
