It's all in the numbers
Hillsborough County School District Superintendent MaryEllen Elia is in the running for a state award that recognizes educators’ use of data.
Education Commissioner Gerard Robinson on Friday named Elia as a finalist, along with the superintendents of Miami-Dade, Okaloosa, St. Johns and St. Lucie counties.
“Data continues to be an essential tool in our work to improve classroom instruction and drive the academic achievement of our students to higher levels,” Robinson said.
Hillsborough and Elia were recognized for building customized school- and district-level performance scorecards, and a user-friendly data dashboard that integrates existing longitudinal district and state data for students, teachers, and principals.
The Data Leader of the Year will be named on Oct. 19 in Tallahassee.
