Jeb Bush: Education lawsuit is 'ridiculous'
The recently filed high quality schools lawsuit is "ridiculous" and "won't pass," former Gov. Jeb Bush says in what we think are his first public comments about it. Bush told WMFE radio in Orlando in this interview last week that the suit is backed by "liberal politicians who couldn't get what they wanted" in the legislative process, so they turned to the courts.
He singled out former House Speaker Jon Mills, a Gainesville Democrat, and said Florida's schools are far better off today than when Mills was speaker (which would have been in 1987-88).
Asked about Gov. Charlie Crist, Bush said "the governor has not had maybe the passion our team did" about education reform, but "he has not undermined any of the reforms, he has supported them."
