Jeb's latest education initiative: Digital technology
His efforts to get more states to adopt school grading and other accountability measures well under way, former Florida governor Jeb Bush has turned his attention to another education issue. He's joined forces with former West Virginia governor Bob Wise to push for better use of technology in classroom learning.
Education Week reports that Bush and Wise helped form the new Digital Learning Council to find new ways to put technology to use in schooling, and then to promote those best practices to states. (Press release here.)
Digital technology’s “disruptive nature for good has not been applied to our education system. If you look at how technology has improved our lives, it has only been an accessory in education,” Bush told Education Week. The blueprint that emerges from the council “will move us towards a more customized learning environment where more students learn at their maximum pace.”
