Keeping up with John Winn

13

August

WinnFormer Florida education commissioner John Winn has turned up in the news again.

This time, President Bush has appointed Winn to the board of directors of the National Board of Education Sciences. That's a federal agency aimed at conducting education research and using statistics and data to improve public schooling.

Winn has stayed out of the limelight but not out of the picture since his resignation in February. He turned up as an education adviser to then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and he also joined a group consulting on how to get more kids to take math and science Advanced Placement exams. Winn remains with the National Math + Science Initiative.
