Krassner: Survey parents to boost involvement
The Pinellas school district can increase parental involvement by holding meetings close to where parents live, and by asking parents for advice, school board candidate Terry Krassner said in a questionairre for the St. Petersburg Times editorial board.
"Survey the thousands of parents who are already involved in our schols to learn why they are involved and what they would recommend to get others engaged," Krassner wrote. "Consider expanded partnerships with recreation centers, libraries and other safe facilities as host sites for mentors, tutors and computer labs."
Krassner also said she paid for her own cell phone when she was principal, and said the district may need to look at closing more schools because of declining enrollment.
The questionairre was submitted to all school board candidates in Pinellas. We'll post the others soon.
Krassner and Fonda Huff are vying for the at-large District 2 seat.
