Kurdell wins sixth term on Hillsborough School Board
Carol Kurdell has been on the Hillsborough School Board longer than most students in the district have been alive. On Tuesday, voters gave her another four years on the job.
With just one precinct left to report, the county elections office shows Kurdell claiming 57 percent of the vote over conservative civic activist Terry Kemple, who most recently has made the news by blasting the Council on American Islam Relations and the speakers it has sent into some area schools.
All of the other School Board seats up for election were settled in August. Just one incumbent, Jack Lamb, lost his post, to parent activist Cindy Stuart. Winning reelection in the primary were Susan Valdes and Doretha Edgecomb.
