Kurt Browning hits the road
Kurt Browning, Pasco County's expected next superintendent, has been coy with the Gradebook when asked who's giving him advice on how to lead the school district come November.
Thank goodness for some of our colleagues around Florida, who have begun spotting him taking in information we can only assume he intends to use once in the office. The Bradenton Herald reports that Browning spent the better part of Friday visiting high school career education programs in Manatee County, with former School Board member Kathryn Starkey and district career-technical director Rob Aguis in tow.
We've heard that Browning has been speaking with education leaders around the state and country seeking ideas to boost Pasco schools beyond where they are now. Names have been lacking, with Browning saying he'll reveal all in good time.
If he's focusing time on Manatee, one can only hope he's in contact with incoming interim superintendent Dave Gayler, and not the leader Gayler replaced after multiple financial errors led to his resignation.
