Kurt Browning sweeps Pasco County in primary election
Going into Tuesday's primary election, Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino held out hope that strong turnout in west Pasco would boost her reelection campaign.
It didn't work out that way.
Challenger Kurt Browning won all 110 precincts in the county -- by as little as three votes (Precinct 49, River Ridge Golf Club) and as much as 508 votes (Precinct 6, Alice Hall Community Center in Zephyrhills).
Fiorentino's best vote total came in Precinct 33 (Gulf Harbors), where she received 305 votes compared to Browning's 362.
"I think it's pretty indicative of people wanting change," Browning said. "At one point in time, she wanted to make this an east-west thing. I knew all along it wasn't an east-west thing."
