Last minute retirement in the Pasco principal ranks
Yet another Pasco County school is looking for a new principal to start the 2010-11 academic year.
Eva Hunsberger, who has led Chester W. Taylor Elementary School since 2005, filed surprise retirement papers at the end of July. Her official last day is Aug. 13.
"I have had wonderful opportunities here in Pasco County," Hunsberger told the Gradebook. "There comes a time when somebody wants to pursue other interests."
She wouldn't reveal her future plans, but said she was excited to move on and also certain that the school would thrive under a new principal.
Ten candidates have applied for the job. They are: Kay Coe, school administrator from Iowa; Judith Cosh, Chasco Elementary assistant principal; Megan Hermansen, Oakstead Elementary assistant principal; Julie Marks, Quail Hollow Elementary assistant principal; Shary Marshall, former principal from Connecticut; George Papaemanuel, Cypress Elementary assistant principal; Shirley Ray, Seven Oaks Elementary assistant principal; Erica Tonello, Schrader Elementary assistant principal; Nancy Waters, former principal of Denham Oaks Elementary; and Richard Wendlek, former principal of Academy at the Lakes private school.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino and her team are scheduled to conduct interviews on Monday.
