The last word on Hillsborough's school calendar?
It looks like the Hillsborough County School Board finally has finished up its 2010-11 academic calendar, now that it's more than two weeks into the year.
Some parents are certain to keep agitating for the end to early release days. There's a decent chance that others will continue to fight over observed holidays.
That's all well and good in the public forum. But perhaps the debate can at least respect parent and student interests, and not linger on well past the official adoption of a calendar in the spring. As board member April Griffin said during Tuesday's discussion, "I don't know that I want to use the calendar as a carrot or negotiating tool anymore."
No other school districts seem to have this problem, do they?
