McCollum doesn't waver on SB 6

Mccollum Florida Gov. Charlie Crist may be weighing a veto of SB 6, but Florida attorney general and Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill McCollum gives it two thumbs up. He says in this statement praising the Florida Legislature for moving the bill:

As this legislation is debated on the floor of the Florida House of Representatives this week, I encourage all House members to put the best interests of our teachers, students and schools above the interests of unions and bureaucracy.

Unfortunately, Alex Sink opposes this important legislation. My opponent refuses to stand up for Florida’s teachers and schools, instead yielding to union politics and the status quo that held back our students for too long. These are the same forces and antiquated sentiments that jeopardized Florida’s Race to the Top bid.

As Governor, education will be one of my top priorities. Tremendous progress has been made in the last decade, but more must be done. I am committed to implementing and expanding aggressive reform efforts that will improve our schools and strengthen our economy.
