McKay Scholarship expansion wins key vote
With a 28-9 vote, a proposal to grow the McKay Scholarship Program for students with disabilities cleared the Florida Senate Monday morning. A House vote is expected later today before the bill goes to Gov. Rick Scott.
Sen. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood, spoke against the proposal, raising some of the same criticism raised during committee hearings: that too many students would now qualify as disabled under the new plan.
A House vote on the measure is expected this afternoon before the bill heads to Gov. Rick Scott.
