Miami-Dade principal removed for profane comment to parent
Eva Ravelo is no longer principal of Coconut Grove Elementary School in Miami-Dade as a result of her note telling a parent to "eat sh-- and die." The Miami Herald reports:
Ravelo will work at the regional office while school officials investigate a May 10 incident in which Ravelo e-mailed the message, ``Advise her to eat sh-- and die,'' to Abigail DuBearn, a parent.
DuBearn had asked Ravelo in an e-mail whether student representatives of the school's Educational Excellence School Advisory Committee could "be notified today invited and participate'' at a May 10 EESAC meeting. A spokeswoman for Ravelo said the note was intended for an assistant principal, and that Ravelo later apologized to DuBearn.
But the e-mail outraged parents, many of whom wrote letters complaining about Ravelo's conduct and seeking her ouster to School Board members and Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.
