More details about potential Title I changes in Pinellas

19

January

Along with eight Pinellas high schools, three elementary schools - Northwest, Sanderlin and Southern Oak - could lose Title I money next year under a redesign proposed by Superintendent John Stewart.

As we've noted before, Stewart wants to divide the Title I money among elementary and middle schools, as opposed to all school levels. He is also proposing to increase the Title I threshold from where it is currently - schools with 69 percent or more of their students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch - to 72 percent.

District staff went over those changes and others at Tuesday's school board workshop. Attached below is the list of schools that would still get Title I money next year if the proposed changes are approved by the school board. Also attached is a power point that generally sums up the district's priorities for Title I, the expected outcomes for Title I middle and elementary schools and potential ways Title I money could be used.
