More FCAT data from Pinellas

Sorry to bring this to you late, but better late than never: The documents attached below offer a breakdown of FCAT scores, grade by grade, school by school, subject by subject (except writing), as put together by the Pinellas County School District. It's not all neatly arranged in one place, but there's a lot worth looking at.

We didn't have time yet to take a thorough look - we'll have to, we're sure, when school grades come out - but on the negative side, a few schools jumped out. The fifth-grade scores at Tarpon Spring Elementary, for example, dropped by more than 30 percentage points in all three subjects tested (reading, math, science).  The fith-grade scores at normally high-performing Curlew Creek Elementary also dropped by double digits in all three.

In south county, Melrose Elementary fell in six of seven tested areas (everything but fourth grade reading). Maximo Elementary also fell in six of seven (including a 17 percentage point drop in third-grade reading and 34-point drop in third-grade math).

On the positive side, Jamerson Elementary made gains almost across the board. So did Gulfport Elementary (with the glaring exception of a 23-point drop in fourth-grade math.)

By all means, tell us what you think stands out as noteworthy.
