More principal changes in Pinellas
Two principals at persistently D-rated high schools in Pinellas are being moved, assuming school board approval today.
Michael Bohnet, the principal at Dixie Hollins High, is likely on his way to Osceola Fundamental High School, where he'll replace principal Carol Moore. Moore is, according to Superintendent Julie Janssen's proposal, going to be on "special assignment" in a grant-funded position. Dan Evans, the former assistant principal at Osceola, will likely become Dixie's new principal.
Paula Nelson, the principal at Boca Ciega High, will likely be trading places with Northeast High principal Kevin Hendrick.
The changes were not part of the administrative re-shuffling announced by Superintendent Julie Janssen June 17. They were added to the board agenda this morning.
Dixie and Bogie, along with D-rated Lakewood High, are likely to be under increased state oversight this fall, joining F-rated Gibbs High, which came under more state scrutiny last year.
The leadership changes means all four schools will have new principals. Kevin Gordon took the helm at Gibbs last year, and Lakewood principal Dennis Duda is being replaced by former Osceola Middle School Principal Bob Vicari.
Janssen said earlier this month that she would keep Bohnet and Nelson in place, unless the state said otherwise.
