More proof things are different in Tally?
With former Gov. Jeb Bush out of the picture, even outspoken teachers union types are getting seats at the table. Jade Moore, executive director of the Pinellas teachers union, was appointed by Senate President Ken Pruitt Thursday to the new Taxation and Budget Reform Commission.
Jade Moore?! Moore may be the feistiest – and most quotable – local teachers union leaders in Florida. He’ll join 24 other people on the commission, which is charged with looking at the state’s revenue needs, its tax structure and its budgetary process, and then putting proposed constitutional amendments on the 2008 ballot. This is big stuff.
Under Bush, educators frequently complained they were frozen out of the debate on big stuff. Things appear to be different now. For other examples, check out this Times story.
