Musical chairs ends (for now) in Pasco

Data It looks like Pasco schools finally have all their principals in place, just days before teachers are to report to campus for work.

The appointment of Katie Lail (left), formerly assistant principal at West Zephyrhills Elementary, as the new principal of Mary Giella Elementary finishes the effort. She replaces Cara Allen, who was transferred to Moon Lake Elementary after Susan Barcellino resigned just four months into the job.

Barcellino had taken over Moon Lake after Donna Busby moved to open brand new Veterans Elementary in Wesley Chapel.

Lail, 50, joined the Pasco County school district as a junior high math teacher in 1988. Since that time, she also has worked as a guidance counselor and assistant principal. She spent her first day at Giella on Friday.

Lail said she is "excited" about her first principal job, and told the Gradebook she looked forward to working with new Crews Lake Middle School to make Shady Hills "the community it can be. I think we can really develop some strong ties and community bonds. That’s what I'm really looking forward to."
