New assistant superintendent coming to Pinellas

Pinellas County should soon have a new assistant superintendent for human resources. And it looks likes it's snatching him away from Polk County.

Ron Ciranna, now the assistant superintendent for human resources in Polk, is being recommended by superintendent Julie Janssen for the same job in Pinellas. The Pinellas school board will consider the appointment Tuesday.

Ciranna will replace Solomon Stephens, who left the district for a similar job in Alabama. He'll make $117,000 a year.

Forty-five people from around the country applied for the position; 27 were scheduled for interviews.
