New backpack for Pasco County fourth grader

Picture.jpgFred Ferrer is not giving up his fight against the Pasco County school district's policy on student attire.

His son, Quentin, has abandoned the backpack that sparked his dad's ire, though.

The boy told his father that he wanted a new pack because the fight over his favored one, which has a drawing of a scantily clad woman and a large snake, was dampening his school experience. Richey Elementary School principal Ken Miesner deemed the bag inappropriate and began confiscating it each morning as Quentin came to school.

The dispute attracted national attention, even receiving mention this morning from Kathie Lee Gifford on Today.
