New job for embattled Pinellas administrator

Given all the calls, emails and blog comments we've received in recent days, this isn't exactly breaking news. But district spokeswoman Andrea Zahn confirmed to the Gradebook last night that Janet Hernandez, the Pinellas administrator who has been tangled up in issue after issue since joining the district a year ago, is moving to a new job as an ESE program specialist, housed at Richard L. Sanders School in Pinellas Park.

The position was not posted. Hernandez's $76,549 salary will be the same for the remainder of the year, but will be reduced to a different pay grade in 2011-12, Zahn wrote in an email. We're not clear what that new salary range will be, but we'll let you know when we're sure.

Hernandez has worked as an ESE teacher and school-level ESE administrator in other Florida districts and is certified to teach emotionally handicapped in grades K-12.
