New newspaper, staunch critic fire at Janssen

13

July

Ray Tampa, a former principal, former president of the St. Petersburg NAACP, and unabashed critic of Superintendent Julie Janssen, blasts Janssen in a front-page op-ed in a new newspaper called the St. Pete Bulletin, which aims to provide news and information that "vitally impact the African American, Hispanic and the broader community."

"The Pinellas School District has faced one distraction after the other, almost in rapid fire succession. Dr. Janssen has been involved in just about all of these distractions in one way or another. Some might even say that she has been the cause of thes distractions," he writes. "Nevertheless, the focus on what matters the most, the students, has so often taken a back seat to these other matters."
