Parents Across America doesn't like privatization, high-stakes testing or the closing down of failing schools. The group stands by the belief that money matters, as do parent involvement, small classes and evaluation systems that go beyond testing.

The group promotes the message of Diane Ravitch, who recently blasted the past several years of No Child Left Behind efforts and philosophies. Its leadership team includes the leader of New York's class size reduction group, a researcher for antivoucher groups in Texas and a successful advocate for improved cafeteria meals in San Francisco.

Two Floridians also helped create the organization: Sarasota disability advocate Susan Magers and Palm Beach education activist Rita Solnet. "Parents will no longer sit on the sidelines and accept the dismantling of their children’s public schools. Enough is enough!” Solnet said. "These are our schools, and our children, and our voices must be heard."
