New principal appointed for Pasco's Irvin Education Center

guss.jpgNancy Guss, assistant principal at River Ridge Middle School, has received the nod to run Pasco County's Irvin Education Center.

Superintendent Heather Fiorentino "thinks she's ready," district spokeswoman Summer Romagnoli said of Guss, who has worked for the school system since 1979. "She has taken progressive leadership responsibilities."

The Irvin Education Center, an alternative school in Dade City, has been without a full-time principal for about a month after Rick Saylor left to take over nearby Moore-Mickens Education Center, which offers career and adult programs. Guss' appointment will go to the School Board next week.

The district's principal posts continue to shuffle with retirements coming at the end of this semester. The application deadline for Schrader Elementary just closed, and the principal job at Rushe Middle School is slated to open soon.
