New principal named for Trinity Elementary School in Pasco

gantt.jpgCortney Gantt, principal of Pine View Elementary School in Land O'Lakes, has been named the new leader of Trinity Elementary School in western Pasco County.

Gantt replaces Kathryn Rushe, the school's only principal since it opened. She worked at Trinity as an assistant principal for four years and a year as Gulf Highlands Elementary assistant principal before moving to Pine View, where she has a strong reputation with the Pine View Elementary faculty.

"I was ready to expand my career and take on a new challenge at a new school," Gantt told the Gradebook. She praised the Trinity staff, saying she looked forward to working with them again, as well as reconnecting with Trinity families.

Gantt was selected from a pool of four finalists for the position.

School district officials made the announcement of her appointment public shortly after the staffs at each school were informed of the move. Gantt is expected to begin at Trinity on Jan. 19, after the School Board officially considers the transfer. Rushe ends her tenure at the school next week.

There's no set time line for installing a new principal at Pine View. Gantt predicted an easy transition, though, saying the staff there is "just superior" and will make it work.
