New principals and ESE safety issues are on the Hillsborough school board agenda
Armwood High School will get a new principal on Tuesday. The Hillsborough County School Board will name Michael Ippolito's replacement, as well as principals for Jennings Middle School; and Citrus Park, Cleveland and Kenly Elementary Schools.
The board also is expected to view an expanded study on safety issues in the Exceptional Student Education department. Superintendent MaryEllen Elia appointed a work group to examine training, emergency protocols and other issues in the aftermath of two student deaths this year. The Council for the Great City Schools is assisting the work group, as well as the Superintendent's Council on the Education of Students with Disabilities.
This is also the first business meeting that will be chaired by April Griffin, who takes over for member Candy Olson; and the inaugural meeting for new member Cindy Stuart.
The meeting begins at 3 p.m. at school board headquarters and will be televised.
