New voice for DOE

6

April

The Florida Department of Education is about to get a new public face. Again. Tom Butler, the deputy press secretary for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, becomes the sixth Education spokesman in the past 2-1/2 years. He replaces Cathy Schroeder, who moved to the Department of Management Services. "He'll be coming in a couple of weeks," said Jennifer Fennell, who oversees communications for the DOE. Maybe, just maybe, Butler will last longer than the many who came before. In case you can't name the others, they were Frances Marine (went to law school), MacKay Jimeson (moved to private sector), Vivian Myrtetus (now Gov. Charlie Crist's top spokesperson), Melanie Etters (now communications director for the Agency for Persons With Disabilities) and Schroeder.
