Not much dissent on Florida's second shot at Race to the Top
The second time around, almost everybody's on board. According to this final tally from the Florida Department of Education, 65 of 67 school districts signed the revised memorandum of understanding that is key to Florida's second Race to the Top application. Fifty-four local unions did too.
Two districts - tiny Baker County in northeast Florida and Palm Beach County - are not included on the list because DOE did not get an MOU from them. (The Palm Beach County School Board agreed recently it would sign. Did it change its mind?)
The unions that said no: Gilchrist, Glades, Gulf, Indian River, Levy, Manatee, Martin, Nassau, Pasco, Seminole and Union. (We're not sure if the lack of MOU means the Baker and Palm Beach unions said no or not.)
The deadline for signing was yesterday. The application is due June 1.
