Jim Robinson, the Pinellas County School Board school board attorney, said Tuesday he would monitor the status of local attorney Robert G. Walker, who does legal work for the district. Walker was jailed earlier this month on charges of attempted murder and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol after an incident outside his Belleair home.
Robinson said Walker tells him that more facts about the incident will soon come out and he expects the charges to be reduced. For now, he's not allowing Walker to work on district business, but he said that could change if his legal status improves.
"I have a problem with an attorney that solves problems that way," board member Jane Gallucci said, referring to Walker's use of a gun, which, according to police, went off during the episode. Board member Linda Lerner had another view: "Innocent until proven guilty."
