One Tampa Bay high school in Newsweek's Top 500
Newsweek's new system for ranking high schools isn't kind to those in the Tampa Bay area. Only one area school - King High in Tampa - made the magazine's Top 500, coming in at No. 293, according to the recently released results.
Under the old rating system (which put a premium on AP and IB participation rates), four Tampa Bay schools made the Top 100 last year (including Lakewood High's CAT program, at No. 16.)
