Overseas gigs looking good for Florida teachers?

plane_over_ocean.Maybe it's coincidence. Maybe the numbers are too small to be meaningful. But for what it's worth, the number of Florida teachers applying to teach abroad is rising fast, according to Teach Away, a teacher recruitment agency based in Toronto, Canada.

Figures from agency director Dave Frey show 850 Florida teachers applied to the program in 2010, up from 425 in 2009. So far this year, applications are up 60 percent over the same period last year.

By comparison, 20,000 teachers across America applied in 2010, up about 50 percent from 2009. This year's national applications are up 15 percent from the same period last year. (Image from www.mediafocus.com)
