Pasco assistant superintendent sent to new post in reorganization
Pasco schools superintendent Kurt Browning wants to revamp the way the district handles instructional media and technology. And he's placed John Mann, assistant superintendent for curriculum over the past six months, in charge of the effort.
Mann, who retires at the end of the school year, will become the department director, with current director Wendy Spriggs acting in a supervisory role under his leadership.
"We plan to redesign the department so it fits with a future vision we have for media and technology, and how they can better fit with the schools," said Ray Gadd, assistant superintendent for operations. "It's going to look very, very different than it does now."
That will include more technology in the classroom, online accleration and remediation, and computerized professional development.
"John Mann is going to help us to revise how technology specialists and media specialists spend their time, to better support the teachers," said Amelia Van Name Larson, assistant superintendent for student achievement.
