Pasco board to ratify longer contracts, cell phone usage
Some of you here on the Gradebook have adamantly questioned whether the Pasco School Board would ever get around to following new Florida law requiring explicit acts to authorize administrative contracts longer than 10 months, and use of state funds for cell phones.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino promised the actions were in the works, and now they're up for approval on Tuesday's agenda.
Item 3.3 would have the board approve all contracts that extend beyond 10 months, including principals, other site administrators and even some instructional staff. Item 7.1 would have the board reauthorize last year's wireless plan for this year, "for efficiently performing the operations of the district."
Eighty-eight employees (out of about 10,000 total) carry PDA's or cell phones paid for by the district.
