Pasco cancels classes, board meeting
The Pasco school district joined its neighbors just minutes ago in announcing it will not have classes on Tuesday because of Tropical Storm Fay.
Pasco also will close all district offices and postpone its scheduled School Board meeting. The board will meet instead at 6 p.m. Aug. 26.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino told the Gradebook she waited until late in the day to make the call in hopes the storm would not affect the area. However, she said, the projected path looks likely to create high winds, particularly in the eastern part of Pasco.
"Any time the winds get over 30-40 mph, they could blow a bus over," Fiorentino said.
She added that parents should consider schools to be open on Wednesday unless the district says otherwise on Tuesday.
