Pasco "cone of shame" teacher's hearing canceled, settlement near
Laurie Bailey-Cutkomp, the Zephyrhills High teacher whose story of putting a "cone of shame" on students went international, was supposed to make her case Monday before the Pasco School Board.
Instead, her case appeared ready to fizzle without the sizzle that it initially generated.
The School Board, which was to decide whether to follow superintendent Heather Fiorentino's recommendation to fire Bailey-Cutkomp, canceled its hearing at the request of lawyers for both sides.
"We are working on settling the case with her attorney," district employee relations director Kevin Shibley told the Gradebook. "Nothing has been finalized yet, but I believe that we are close. Both parties were comfortable cancelling the hearing in anticipation of reaching an agreement."
