Pasco contract ratification vote in two weeks

With contract terms settled, Pasco County teachers and school-related employees will get to say whether they approve the deal during a ratification vote now scheduled for May 17.

In advance of the vote, the United School Employees of Pasco is seeking to explain the details - particularly of the part dealing with teacher evaluations - to anyone who wants to listen. The group has scheduled three town hall meetings to go over the specifics and answer questions.

District representatives will join union leaders to lead the conversations, which are scheduled for:

  • Tuesday, May 8th at the USEP Office 21322 Lake Patience Rd, Land O’ Lakes
  • Thursday, May 10th at Centennial Middle School Media Center
  • Tuesday, May 15th at Gulf High School Cafeteria

Each meeting is set to run from 5-6 p.m. See the actual negotiated language, which was tied to requirements of SB 736, attached below. Some teachers have indicated they plan to vote against ratification. School Board members so far have remained mum, although they have had some executive session conversations about some of the financial matters within the tentative agreement. Stay tuned.
