Pasco County Commission to take up school impact fees
Despite objections from Pasco County school officials, the Pasco County Commission this afternoon is likely to cut school impact fees in half as part of an effort to spark new home construction.
Teachers and parents made a last-ditch effort to lobby against the proposal, saying it would financially harm the school district at a time it can least afford to see its revenue decrease.
Commissioner Jack Mariano and developers contend, however, that the cuts will ease unemployment in one of the county's biggest industries.
The public hearing begins at 1:30 p.m. See the full story here. Stay tuned to see how things turn out.
