Pasco to Imagine charter school: Get us your budget, or else
Two weeks ago, the Pasco school district fired off a letter to the Imagine School at Land O'Lakes advising the charter school operators that their financial reports are overdue, and to submit them quickly.
So far, the response has not satisfied the district.
Assistant superintendent Renalia DuBose told the School Board this morning that the charter school has not yet delivered its 2009-10 budget or capital funds plans, even as Imagine conducts classes for close to 500 children. That's counter to the school's contract with the board, and it could lead to action up to closure, board attorney Dennis Alfonso advised.
Board members were displeased.
"We're very much in favor of our charter schools," board member Kathryn Starkey said, "but they do need to comply" with the rules.
